Ebby
Privacy Policy
Last updated 13 July 2026
Ebby is a mood-tracking app for people managing their mental health, and mood data is about as personal as data gets. So the short version is: your data stays on your device, there's no account, and we never see it. The rest of this page explains exactly what that means.
The short version
- No account. There's nothing to sign up for. Ebby doesn't ask for your name, email, or phone number, and nothing you log is tied to your identity.
- Local by default. Everything you enter is stored on your iPhone. It stays there unless you turn on iCloud sync yourself.
- We can't see your data. Ebby has no server that receives your entries. There is no analytics SDK, no advertising, and no third-party tracking.
- You can take it with you. Export an encrypted backup at any time, restore it on another device, or delete everything from within the app.
What Ebby stores, and where
Ebby stores the things you choose to log — daily check-ins (mood, energy, anxiety, irritability), symptoms, daily factors, journal notes, therapy and medication tracking, and medication schedules. This data is written to your device's local storage.
If you enable iCloud sync, that same data is synced through your own iCloud account using Apple's private database, so it can appear on your other devices. Ebby does not operate the servers involved and cannot read data held in your iCloud. You can turn sync off at any time in Settings.
Apple Health
If you grant permission, Ebby reads health metrics — such as sleep, heart-rate variability, resting heart rate, workouts, and mindful minutes — from Apple Health so they can sit alongside how you felt. This data is read on your device to display charts and is subject to the same storage rules above. Ebby only requests read access to the categories it shows, and you can revoke access at any time in the iOS Health settings. Ebby does not write to Apple Health, and it never transmits your Health data off your device.
Notifications
If you set medication or check-in reminders, Ebby schedules them as local notifications on your device. Reminders are generated on-device; nothing about your schedule is sent anywhere.
What Ebby does not do
- No advertising, and no sale or sharing of your data — there is nothing to sell, because we don't receive it.
- No third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising identifiers.
- No social features and no public sharing. Your entries are never posted anywhere.
- No selling or transfer of data to data brokers.
Sharing that you initiate
Some features let you move your own data deliberately: exporting a password-protected backup file, or generating a monthly summary report to share with a clinician. These only happen when you choose them, and the resulting file goes wherever you send it. Once a file leaves the app through the iOS share sheet, how it's handled is up to you and the destination you pick.
Children
Ebby is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from anyone. Because Ebby has no account and no server, it does not gather personal information from users of any age.
Your control
You can delete individual entries or wipe all Ebby data from within the app. Deleting the app removes its local data from your device; if you used iCloud sync, you can remove that data through your iCloud storage settings. Because there's no account, there's nothing to close and nothing held by us to request.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above will change with it. Material changes will be reflected in the app or on this page.
